Truly Victorian 1891 French fan skirt based on patterns and methods used in the 1890's. The front is straight and has swags which sway from the waist at the sides giving a beautiful ruched effect to the front.
The back is cut in a fan which falls in a double pleat down the centre back. The closure of this skirt is on the left side back seam and is hidden inside a pleat. Best worn with a petticoat in order to hold the proper shape.
This pattern will require fabric of a minimum width of 127cm but can be used with a false hem in case of fabric shortage!
This skirt design is historically accurate but can also be used in modern clothing as an extremely elegant and shapely ball gown or wedding dress.
