This dot and cross paper is essential for all aspects of pattern making for clothing or other crafty applications. I personally couldn't work without it!
Also known as 'spot and cross' paper, it is a lovely lightweight paper - 60gsm - printed with light blue dots and crosses spaced at 2cm intervals. You can therefore easily ascertain straight and bias grainlines and make very quick calculations of distance based on the number of spots and crosses on the section of the pattern you are working with.
This paper is also good for helping to scale up small patterns from books and other sources, and it is also lightweight enough to help cut slippery fabrics.
If you are trying to cut something like chiffon or light satin which has a tendency to move as soon as you so much as look at it, simply sandwich your fabric between two layers of this paper, pin it all together, and cut. You then end up with perfectly cut slippery fabric which you can keep pinned in it's 'sandwich' until it's required. Perfect!
This spot and cross paper is 90cm (36") wide and is priced by the metre.
