Beautiful fine weave herringbone corsetry coutil fabric which is the same weight as the regular herringbone, but less heavily sized (less stiff), and therefore a little softer and with a very tiny and elegant herringbone pattern.
This fabric is as near to antique coutil as I have seen - and I have compared this coutil to some Edwardian corsets made of practically identical coutil. Therefore, this coutil is very historically accruate if you are making a costume/period corset
This corset coutil can be used in light corsetry where less bulk is required, as in a single layer underwear corset, or it can be used as a double layer where more durability is required, as in a training corset. The coutil here would also make a lovely lining for a more layerd corset.
This coutil could also be used very effectively in a dress foundation where more body was required than with a traditional bobinnet or canvas and having tested it myself I can say that it is very durable when the unpicker visits it!! No scarring of the fabric where stray stitches have been.
